Web-mail Terms & Conditions
By Subscribing to the web-mail facility you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions governing the service and to the Acceptable Use Policy governing the company’s websites.
These terms and conditions will be revised from time to time. A customer's use of Greenlight's services after changes to the terms and conditions are posted on Greenlight's web sites, www.greenlightss.com, www.glc.hk, www.glcltd.co.uk, will constitute the customer's acceptance of any new or additional terms and conditions that result from those changes.
We prohibit the use of any Greenlight services or Greenlight Web-Mail and Messaging services for purposes relating to the transmission, distribution or delivery of any unsolicited (single, bulk or commercial) message (including but not limited to newsgroup post) and/or unsolicited (single, bulk or commercial) email ("Spam"), as well as performing any Security Attack on Greenlight's system or others.
Interpretation and Definition:
- "Denial of Service" means an explicit attempt by attacker to prevent legitimate users of a service from using that service.
- "Hacking" means unauthorized use, or any attempt to circumvent or bypass the security mechanisms of an information system or network.
- "Phishing" means the act of sending an email to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a website where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords, credit card information, social security, and bank account information that the legitimate organization already has. The website, however, is bogus and set up only to steal the user's information.
- "Security Attack" means any activities attempting to influence the confidentiality, integrity, availability and non-repudiation of the network systems. These activities may (i) interrupt access and use if the network systems; (ii) pretend as someone else to receive the confidentiality information; (iii) involve unauthorized access to and modification of third party's information, etc.
- "Spam" means sending of unsolicited (single, bulk or commercial) junk messages, not limited to email, and postings without the recipient's prior request or consent.
- "Spoofing" means foregoing any person or systems to make it appear as it comes from somewhere or someone other than the actual source.
- "Spyware Attack" means an attempt to gather user information without the user's knowledge by means of software and transmission from network connection.
You shall not yourself, and shall ensure that no one uses Greenlight services to:
- Deliver Spam;
- Directly or indirectly cause Spam to be delivered to any person or companies; or
- Perform any activities which may cause any kinds of Security Attack, including but not limited to Denial of Service, Spoofing, Hacking, Phishing, Spyware and virus attack on Greenlight's systems or by using Green Light's services.
You must ensure that all e-mails sent, or caused to be sent, to or through the Greenlight services will not:
- Use or contain invalid or forged e-mail headers;
- Use or contain invalid or non-existent domain names or other deceptive addresses;
- Use another third party's Internet domain name, or be relayed from or through a third party's equipment, without permission of the third party;
- Employ any technique to otherwise misrepresent, hide or obscure any information in identifying the point of origin or the transmission path;
- Contain false or misleading information in the subject line orotherwise contain false or misleading content;
Moreover, you shall not yourself, and shall ensure that no-one uses your Greenlight services to:
- Upload, post, email or transmit any message, material, URL or post any content that is unlawful, improper, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing,defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially objectionable, likely to encourage crime, public disorder, violence or hatred or likely to damage public health, safety or morals, fraudulent, misleading, in breach of any confidentiality obligation, infringes any third party's intellectual property rights or proprietary rights, contains software viruses, destroys, interrupts or affects the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;
- Carry out harvesting, mining or collection of e-mail addresses or other information from or through the use of any Greenlight services for purposes of sending unsolicited or unauthorized material;
- Collect, compile or obtain any information about Greenlight services customers or subscribers, including but not limited to subscribers' email addresses and other confidential and proprietary information;
- Send email via your own or third parties' email server, instead of Greenlight email server, if you are using Greenlight’s dynamic IP service;
- Set up any kinds of server with open relay, which is easily manipulated by someone to send email from your or Greenlight's email server, if you are using fixed IP service, and;
- Attempt to access or scan Greenlight’s or third parties' network equipment
As well, you shall use your best endeavor to protect your network and network equipment when using Greenlight services, by any means, against from any forms of network, virus, Spyware and Spam attacks.
We will take appropriate action (including commencing legal proceedings) against anyone who breaches our Terms of Acceptable Use Policy. Such action may include but is not limited to giving warning notice, blocking messages or disabling your access to a particular mail server or IP address, suspension or termination of your access to any Green Light Service. Our failure to enforce this policy in every instance in which it might apply does not amount to a waiver of our rights.
The use of any Greenlight service is subject to our Terms of Acceptable Use Policy.
